Collection: TECHNO RECORDS

Since its early origins in both Detroit and Berlin, techno has now evolved into a global sound, with different countries and territories developing their own scenes, and multiple sub-genres being created over the last forty years.

The curation of techno vinyl records on Kaninhål is primarily driven by my own personal taste - you will find a lot of releases that sit firmly within the deep and hypnotic techno sub-genres, but also others that fall into more peak-time or abstract techno sub-genres.

My interest in these genres was cemented in the 2010s, where I looked to different outposts for inspiration. Notably, I looked to Sweden, with labels such as Northern Electronics (+ Abdulla Rashim Records) and Hypnus, who pushed longer-form deeper styles of techno infused with dub elements and meditative repetition from burgeoning artists such as Anthony Linell (founder of the aforementioned Northern Electronics and Abdulla Rashim prject), Evigt Mörker and Acronym.

Italy brought artists such as Donato Dozzy and Dino Sabatini, whose influence can be heard in the next generation of producers in Claudio PRC, Luigi Tozzi and Ness. Their sound is loop driven and very textural.

The spanish style is often harder and more industrial, arguably spearheaded by Oscar Mulero and his label Polegroup (which he co-founded with Christian Wunsch and Exium) - the imprint has shone a light on other key players in the Spanish scene including Tensal, Kessell and Reeko.

Semantica (headed by Svreca) pretty much bridges the gap between the Spanish and Italian / Swedish sounds - deep, atmospheric listening is combined with darker, more abstract sounds.

We import techno vinyl records from across the globe and offer a carefully selected range of new techno releases, underground techno records and sought-after releases from independent labels.

Our collection is hand-picked, so whether you’re searching for deep or hypnotic techno, industrial techno and abstract compositions, or contemporary interpretations of the classic Detroit sound, our edit prioritises longevity.

Alongside new releases I often look to select back catalogue titles from influential artists, or bring in full / part discographies of genre-defining techno record labels.
