It’s no exaggeration to say that Moritz Von Oswald and Mark Ernestus were fundamentally instrumental in shaping the sound that we know as dub techno, which fuses original sounds influenced by Berlin, Detroit and Jamaica.

First forming in the early nineties, the pair performed under several monikers, but perhaps most notable was their Basic Channel partnership, which served as the primary creative output in pushing this sub-genre of techno forward. The ‘M-Series’ was a series of releases that, for the most part, served as a platform for the duo to release under their ‘Maurizio’ alias, which has achieved cult status amongst dub techno followers. 

These records have been gracing dancefloors for decades, but dedicated fans of the genre (and more specifically, Basic Channel / Maurizio) argue that the duo's discography is ideal for home listening; the loops engineered by Von Oswald and Ernestus border on being perfect (as they never bore of them), where the listener can enter an almost meditative state when listening to a track.
